How the network will operate

When life falls apart,
help should be clear and close at hand.

Hospitality Relief Network is being designed to give hotel and restaurant employees one private place to ask for help after a sudden crisis, regardless of whether their employer is large enough to operate its own emergency fund.

Relief program professionals conducting a confidential case review
A trusted path through a difficult momentThe employer opens the door, the hospitality community builds the pool and trained charitable professionals help the employee privately.

From industry support to individual help

A simple path for the employee, supported by clear responsibility behind the scenes.

The worker sees one private, respectful process. Employers, supporters and charitable professionals each handle only the part that belongs to them.

01

The employer opens the door

A participating company introduces the network, offers voluntary payroll giving, establishes its match and makes sure employees know where to turn.

02

The industry builds the help

Employee gifts, employer matches and approved vendor support work together under the control of the administering charitable organization.

03

The employee asks privately

A worker shares employment, hardship and financial-need information directly with authorized program professionals, never with a manager or sponsor.

04

Help reaches a qualifying need

Trained reviewers apply the same published standards to every case and arrange approved assistance. Employers, donors and sponsors remain outside the decision.

Proposed hardship framework

Focused on sudden events that threaten immediate stability.

The administering charitable organization will approve the final grant policy. Current planning concentrates on documented emergencies that place housing, personal safety, essential transportation or family stability at risk.

  • Residential fire, flood or qualifying natural disaster
  • Sudden serious illness or injury
  • Death in the immediate family
  • Emergency relocation related to domestic violence
  • Temporary housing or essential utility crisis tied to an unforeseen event
  • Critical transportation expense that threatens continued employment

Important

Assistance is based on qualifying need, not contribution history or workplace influence.

The proposed program is not insurance, a loan or an employer-controlled benefit. An employee will not need to be a donor to apply, and contributing more will not improve the likelihood or amount of assistance.

Governance architecture

Trust depends on clear separation of authority.

Fundraising, employment verification, case administration, grant adjudication and reporting are distinct functions. No single stakeholder should control the entire process.

P

Privacy firewall

Employers verify employment status but do not receive medical, household or financial records. Sponsors receive no applicant-level information.

I

Independent case authority

Published eligibility standards and outside review separate grant decisions from employment, donations, sponsorship and media relationships.

R

Accountable reporting

Employers and sponsors receive aggregate financial and program results, including funding activity, processing performance and assistance categories.

Program questions

Clear answers before participation begins.

Will an employee have to contribute before applying?
No. Eligibility will be based on approved hospitality employment, qualifying-event and financial-need criteria, not donation history.
Can a company influence which employee receives assistance?
No. Participating employers may verify employment but will not approve, deny or influence an individual grant.
Will employee gifts pay operating expenses?
The intended structure restricts employee payroll gifts and employer matches to the relief pool. Approved vendor or foundation support will fund administration under final agreements and accounting policies.
When will applications open?
Only after a qualified charitable administrator, final grant policy and responsible opening reserve are in place. Join the launch list to receive updates.
